Interview of Minister of Industry & Commerce of Mozambique

Minister of Industry & Commerce of Mozambique, Mr Antonio Fernando said that the 10th MIF enables them to understand more about Macao’s role as an economic and trade platform and the vast market of China.

He said that the Mozambique have the geographic advantage of locating in the mid point between China, United States and Europe and its products enjoyed tariff free treatment in many countries in the Americas and Europe.

He emphasis that if China enterprises that set up productions in Mozambique could profit from these advantages.

Mr Fernando said that at present, there were 10 Chinese enterprises with investment in Mozambique; operations included Infrastructure on water resources and trade.

He said that although there were few Mozambique entrepreneurs investing in China, the situation will improved with the help of Macao.

He said that during his stay in Macao, he had met with officials of Economic and Trade departments from Macao and China. He also visited the Business Centre of IPIM to understand the favorable policies for the foreign investors.

He said two officials from Mozambique would have their internship in Macao in the near future in order to learn about investment environment of Macao and Mainland.

Mr Fernando will meet with officials from the Ministry of Commerce tomorrow.

Mr Fernando was accompanied by the representatives of 20 leading enterprises in his country to visit this year’s MIF.
