Opening of The 10th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair
The opening of The10th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair is held today at 11:00 in Macao Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre. The ceremony is officiated by Chef Executive of Macao SAR, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, Mr Bai Zhijian, Vice President of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mr Hu Deping, Minister of Economy, Growth and Competitiveness of Cape Verde, Mr Joao Pereira Silva, Minister of Industry & Commerce Antonio Fernando, Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr Liao Xiaoqi, Vice Chairman of Association for Relations across the Taiwan Strait, Mr Sun Yafu, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Vice Director Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Mr Zhou Bo, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, Mr Huang Sonfu, Vice Governor of Liaoning province, Mr Li Wancai, President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Mr Lee Peng Hong and Representative of the coordinator, President of Macao Convention & Exhibition Association, Mr Kam Chong Wen. More than a thousand government officials, merchants and celebrities attended the ceremony.
Mr. Lee Peng Hong said in his speech that the organization scale of this year’s MIF is the biggest ever. Participants had come from 36 countries and regions and over 120 delegate groups of trade.
This year, there are different pavilions like “Made-in-Macao Products Pavilion”, “Portuguese-Speaking Countries Pavilion”, “All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Pavilion, as well as “Buyers’ Corner” in the Fair. At the same time, there are also over 40 seminars and conferences like “International Trade and Investment Forum”, “International Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention”, “Forum of Youth Entrepreneurs from Taiwan and PR” etc. The organizer has also gathered more than 800 projects for business matching to be held during the Fair.
Mr. Lee Peng Hong said that the above-mentioned activities would offer business opportunities to participants and exhibitors from abroad, as well as local companies, especially the small and medium-sized ones to enhance their competitiveness to perfect the moderate diversified industrial structure through utilizing the unique advantages of Macao.
Chef Executive of Macao SAR, Mr. Edmund Ho Hau Wah, accompanied by Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen and Mr. Lee Peng Hong, visited the pavilions before the Opening ceremony.
The “ International Trade and Investment Forum 2005” and six other meetings, seminars and presentations will be held during the first day of the Fair. The Fair will be opened to public tomorrow. Indoor exhibition will be opened from 10:00 to 19:00 while the outdoor exhibition from 10:00 to 21:00. There will be three free shuttle bus routes available for visitors.
Exhibition for Equipment and Products of International Hotel will be held in November in Macao
Exhibition for Equipment and Products of International Hotel will be held from 23rd November to 25th November in Macao. The organizers, Hai Feng International Exhibition Limited, and the co-organiser, ANL International Exhibition Limited signe the contract of cooperation today at 17:00 in Macao Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre.
This exhibition will be held on the date mentioned on the 2nd floor of Macao Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre. This activity is supported by Macao Convention & Exhibition Association, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Macao Hotel Association, Macao Tourism Association and Macao Food & Beverage Federation.
The organizer and co-organizer said that the tourism of Macao develop rapidly since the liberalization of gaming industry in 2001. The number of tourists increased from less than 12 millions in 2003 to over 16 millions in 2004.
